Financial Transmission Rights (FTRs) are valued using adaptations of the Black-Scholes option framework, but with major adjustments for electricity’s realities. Because power cannot be stored, and prices show mean reversion, seasonal swings, and sudden spikes, standard models fail. Instead, FTR pricing uses jump-diffusion processes and seasonality factors, treating the contracts as a form of insurance against congestion costs. Premiums are driven by volatility and constrained by the grid’s transmission limits, meaning the total payout of all FTRs can never exceed actual congestion revenues. This makes electricity derivatives fundamentally different from traditional financial markets while still grounded in risk-neutral pricing logic.

This Amazon Financial Analysis project combines income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow forecasts with advanced valuation models. The workbook includes ratio analysis, DuPont decomposition, WACC and beta calculations, and a full discounted cash flow (DCF) model to estimate intrinsic value. Scenario forecasting and macroeconomic assumptions are layered in to stress test results, while historical stock price data supports validation. Overall, the project demonstrates a complete, professional-grade equity valuation framework applied to Amazon.
